Shop Tour

Tour Our Shop

If you are planning a trip to Maine, we would love to show you around the shop. We don’t sell guitars at the shop but the tour is inspiring, fun and educational. We are located about a 1/2 hour from Portland in the quaint town of Lewiston.

Our tours are typically offered once monthly on a Friday. Email info@bourgeoisguitars.com and ask us for the date of the next tour.

Dana at Bourgeois Guitars with his crew.

Here’s a letter we received from a Bourgeois player who recently toured the shop. He says:

Thank you so much for setting up the tour. It was as interesting a two hours as I have had in some time. Interesting and impressive.

I could ask all the questions I wanted, handle the rough sawn sets of backs and sides and tops which I was delighted to do, imagining what those precious boards would look like assembled together.

I took away the distinct impression of extreme industry, the highest attention to every detail and that everyone present was extremely interested in what they were doing. They seemed proud of their work and the product coming from the shop.

And Dana was everywhere, exhibiting energy and interest up and down the line. Before I visited the shop I had wondered how long he could participate with this hands on approach, insuring that every guitar was truly a product of Dana Bourgeois. I left the place thinking that this way of conducting business would go on a long time. He is still young thinking and enthused.

Just before I left, I saw Dana in the sanding room, wearing a respirator, buffing out a guitar body. The Tour guide, James, said Dana buffs out every guitar, joins the neck to the body on every guitar, and of course he voices every top. All nice to know from the prospect of the potential buyer.

It was truly an exciting experience which surprised me somewhat. I wasn’t expecting to be quite so enthused. It makes me appreciate my new Dana Bourgeois OM even more. When I take it out of it’s case to play, I make a point of looking it, all over, before I begin to play so that I can more fully appreciate this exquisite instrument.

Sincerely,

Pete
